The Italian and South African health departments plan to test the next phase of a vaccine against HIV on 200 people with chronic HIV, they said.

SA, Italy work on AIDS vaccine

The clinical trial for what has become known as the "Italian vaccine" will test the candidate vaccine to see if the focus by researchers at Italy's National Aids Centre (CNAIDS) on the Tat-1 protein works.
