The country's top retailersKFC - the Colonel would have been proud of you - for retaining your top place in The Times and Sowetan 2010 Retail Awards by winning the Retail Grand Prix award for the overall top scoring retailer.
Edgars slipped a little while Shoprite and Pick n Pay climbed the rankings, but what is good to see is Maponya Mall becoming a rising star and giving malls such as Menlyn Park and Sandton City a run for their money. What came out of the awards was also the fact that retailers that put effort into hard brand promotion achieved positive results; let's face it, unless you make sure you are the tall poppy, your visibility and position in the customers' conscience will almost certainly wilt.
