Prophet Muhammad cartoon contest sparks more deaths

Two men were gunned down by police after they opened fire at what's been dubbed a "hate group" event, celebrating cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad in Texas, reports the Mail & Guardian Online. This just months after the French Charlie Hebdo attacks for regularly depicting the Prophet on its cover.

Sunday's 'anti-Islam' art exhibition shooting "quickly reignited the debate on free speech versus provocation", explains CNN.

Reuters reports that the 'Muhammad Art Exhibit and Cartoon Contest' offered a $10,000 prize for the best artwork or cartoon depicting the Prophet, as well as a $2,500 People's Choice Award.
