DHL aircraft services start operating in Malawi
DHL Country Manager for Malawi, Patrick Ferreira, said the service would utilise the company's Cessna C206 aircraft after obtaining a blanket clearance to operate the service.
“It has also met all regulatory requirements that allow it to operate flights into and out of Malawi and the flights will range from 03h45z to 13h45z,” he said before adding, “This is an important step forward in our drive to grow our business in the southern-African market.”
He said there would be five dedicated flights daily from Monday to Friday operating between Harare, Blantyre, Lilongwe and Johannesburg with each aircraft utilising its 550kg capacity.
“This allows for faster connections to flights destined for Europe and Asia, out of South Africa,” he said.
With the Malawi flights the company says it will increase services into and out of Malawi; previously these been limited by Malawi's few commercial flights into the country.
The company offers expertise in express, air and ocean freight, overland transport, contract logistic solutions as well as international mail service, combined with worldwide coverage and an in-depth understanding of local markets. Its network links more than 220 countries and territories worldwide.
