10 million Facebook fans go gaga over Lady Gaga
LONDON, UK: One week ago today, Friday, 2 July, Lady Gaga became the first living person to achieve 10 million fans on Facebook or, indeed, on any single social network. Lady Gaga overtook Barack Obama as the most popular living person on Facebook on 25th June. Only five entities, none of them living people, now have more Facebook fans than Lady Gaga, including the late Michael Jackson, and Facebook itself.

Lady Gaga's fame has been reflected in her rapid path to the top on Facebook, surging past closest rivals Barack Obama, Vin Diesel and Megan Fox. Chart below:
Fastest growing popularity
As well as becoming the most popular living person, Lady Gaga remains the fastest growing star on Facebook, adding 1.9m fans last month alone, and finding over 140 000 new fans each day. Even with World Cup fever at its peak, Soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo could not equal the queen of pop's fan-pulling power.
