Tokara awarded five Platter 5-star wine rating
This marks the most Platter 5-stars ever awarded to Tokara after their triumphant achievement in the 2021 edition with four 5-star wines. All 5-star wines have ratings of 95 points or more on the 100-point scale
"This incredible achievement is not only a reflection of our special site, but also a testament to resilience and the ability of an exceptional team to thrive under the leadership of a family who have dedicated more than 25 years to the pursuit of excellence," says Karl Lambour, general manager
Cabernet Sauvignon is a significant Tokara cornerstone with exceptional wines produced vintage after vintage. The 5-star ratings awarded yet again to the Cabernet driven Director’s Reserve Red and the Reserve Collection Cabernet Sauvignon, is proof of their prowess.
Since its maiden 2003 vintage, the Director’s Reserve Red has grown in stature as a world class Bordeaux-style blend from Stellenbosch, representing everything Tokara stands for – refinement, elegance and balance. The Reserve Collection Cabernet Sauvignon is a true expression of Tokara’s prized vineyard blocks on the slopes of the Simonsberg.
The equally acclaimed Director’s Reserve White 2018 described by UK Master of Wine Tim Atkin as ‘a brilliant white Bordeaux blend’, also made its mark at the 2021 Decanter World Wine Awards with a score of 95 points.
The cool climate Reserve Collection Elgin Sauvignon Blanc 2020 wears the crown as the world’s best Sauvignon Banc after taking top honours at the 12th Concours Mondial du Sauvignon in Brussels.
Making its debut in the Platter 5-star hall of fame, the Tokara XO Potstill Brandy is masterly crafted from Chenin Blanc grapes and matured in Limousin oak casks for up to 17 years.
