Chairperson of Santaco, Abner Tsebe says that the taxi industry in Tshwane has taken this position in anticipation of the events in Joburg City spiralling to Tshwane, warning that those with intentions to loot should desist from any attempts as they will find the industry waiting.

Tsebe further states that the vandalism taking place will not only destroy jobs, but also affect the industry considerably, saying that it is in the industry’s interest to stand against this form of "thuggery", although not replacing law enforcement or act in competition.

The industry has pledged to help with cleaning efforts in surrounding malls and depots.
