Hyundai launches Limited Edition of the Venue
Fast forward to July 2020, and a limited edition of the Venue, all spruced up and somewhat reinvented, is ready for the local market. It's important to know that there are only 500 units available.
The Limited Edition, which has a white roof paired with a blue body colour for its exterior looks, are being imported. The interior, sporting a beige colour theme paired with denim cloth and leather, also sets it apart from the other variants in the Venue range.
It's an ideal small SUV
The Venue Limited Edition - available in three variants with a choice between the Fluid and Glide specification levels - joins the rest of the range as Hyundai's new small sports utility vehicle (SUV).
The Venue Limited Edition is also powered by the three-cylinder turbocharged Kappa 1.0 T-GDI engine which delivers 88 kW and 172 Nm maximum torque. In the Fluid specification level, it is paired with either a manual 6-speed transmission or a 7-speed automatic dual clutch transmission (DCT). The flagship Glide variant only comes with the DCT.
Is it for me?
As Hyundai's most affordable SUV to date, the Venue is aimed at urban adventurers with a taste for savvy, trendy design that stands apart, as well as offering a remarkable driving experience. And yes, it is aimed at you.
If memory serves me correctly, the Venue was very well-received in South Africa since its launch, and the Limited Edition adds a little more spice and pizazz to the range for customers who are shopping for a small SUV with a stylish exterior, outstanding comfort and convenience levels and a powerful and very efficient turbocharged engine.
Bold, attractive exterior
The Venue exhibits a compact but confident body form with a new interpretation of Hyundai's signature design language. From the side it shows full-volume wheel arches and strong character lines, while the bold and beautiful cascading grille incorporates Hyundai's signature forward-looking visage. The Limited Edition's two-tone exterior with its white roof and dark blue body panels adds an extra dimension, complemented by the striking 16-inch alloy wheels as standard equipment.
Interior and convenience features
The Venue's inviting interior offers intuitive controls and forward-thinking design, excellent use of dimensions to create ample space for driver and both front and rear passengers, and decent sized luggage area. The Limited Edition's interior light beige colour theme, complemented by denim and leather cloth seats, also distinguishes it from the other variants in the range.
The interior space and a comfortable cabin provide adequate space for both urban commuters and travellers on a long road trip. The Venue comes with a 60/40 split, flat-folding rear seat back for the Glide version to maximize utility for various trips. The cargo space features a cover for added security and can be conveniently stowed when not in use.
Go on, entertain me!
The Limited Edition's infotainment system n features an 8-inch display audio touch screen system, which also serves as a rear-view monitor when backing up the car. The 8-inch display includes both Apple Car Play and Android Auto for the most commonly used smartphone functions, including app-based navigation, streaming audio and voice-controlled search capabilities.
Consumers will appreciate convenience features such as Dual USB ports, a 3,5-inch TFT driver's instrument cluster display to illustrate useful information, a rear-view camera and Bluetooth hands-free phone operation. The leather-wrapped steering wheel feels comfortable and luxurious and is fitted with audio controls and cruise control buttons.
Engine and drivetrain
Fuel economy is an important consideration for customers who purchase an entry-level vehicle. The Venue Limited Edition's three-cylinder turbocharged Kappa 1.0 T-GDI engine delivers a mixture of impressive fuel economy and perky power which peaks at 88 kW around 6 000 rpm., and reaches maximum torque of 172 Nm in a range from 1,500 to 4,000rpm.
Fuel consumption was measured at a frugal and realistic 6,5 litres per 100 km for the manual transmission variants, and 6,9 litres per 100 km for the DCT.
