    Piracy attacks repelled off Somali coast

    According to a Ports & Ships report, attacks by Somali pirates on merchant ships were foiled in the last week of November, even though pirates had used rocket-propelled grenades to attempt to capture a ship off the coast of Oman.

    Ports & Ships reports that there are currently only seven merchant ships and their crews held hostage by pirates, although they do also hold seven fishing vessels and an undisclosed number of dhows and smaller craft. This has been reported as the lowest number of ships being held in recent years.
