TFR says Matola Corridor will open next week

Transnet Freight Rail (TFR) confirmed on Thursday (11 April) that the Matola Corridor railway line is expected to be re-opened and operational from 19 April.

The bridge will be opened after the accreditation process is completed by the Mozambique rail operator‚ Portos Caminhos de Ferro de Mozambique engineers.

TFR stated that track repairs will continue for several months while the line is operational. The company anticipates that exports will resume during May and the force majeure will remain in effect until the rail system has reached its normal operating capacity."
