How to optimally integrate smart grids - African Utility Week
Masego Matseke, lead Consultant and Smart Metering specialist at Deloitte Consulting (South Africa), who will contribute to the upcoming Smart Grids/Transmission & Distribution conference, said that a smart grid is based on a network "which enables automated metering capabilities on the customer-side [while providing] real-time grid monitoring [of] significant network events [and enables] fault detection, isolation and resolution."
Matseke said that households will be able to use Smart Grids to monitor the efficiency of in-home appliances and help to manage the country's demand and supply constraints.
The Smart Grids/Transmission & Distribution conference will be held during the African Utility Week at Johannesburg's Nasrec Expo Centre, on 22 and 23 May 2012, except the Smart Grids/T&D track which starts on 21 May already, PR.com reports.
