FedEx Express awarded Best Gender Equality Workplace
The Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Awards recognise and celebrate individuals, advisory firms, industry partners, and institutions for their work and passion in enabling diversity and inclusion initiatives. This year, more than 400 organizations participated in the awards conducted by the World HRD Congress.
"We are honoured to be recognised for our gender equality initiatives, highlighting the programs and policies we deliver to provide a safe, diverse, and inclusive work environment for all team members," says Mohamad Sayegh, vice president of operations for FedEx Express in India.
"Our commitment to diversity, inclusion and gender equality is an integral part of our culture and we strongly believe in providing all team members with an equal opportunity to excel and grow. We are committed to programs that equip women with the necessary tools to explore new possibilities and advance, both personally and professionally," he adds.
Recently, FedEx Express launched the Leadership, Education, Advancement, and Placement (LEAP) initiative in its MEISA region; a mentoring program aimed to equip women with mentorship opportunities, and the tools they need to advance their career within the organization.
In March 2020, Jack Muhs, regional president for the Middle East, Indian Subcontinent and Africa (MEISA) region, signed the CEO statement of support for the 'Women’s Empowerment Principles – Equality means Business'. The principles were established by the United Nations Global Compact and United Nations Women, and outline actions to encourage gender equality in the workplace, and the community.
FedEx has also previously been named by Forbes Magazine in 2019 as one of the Best Employers for Diversity globally, and was also recognised as one of the top Top 50 Best Workplaces for Women 2020 in India, by the Great Place to Work Institute.
