During the visit to the Hemer Technology Centre, the group were able to see the Grohe factory in action, bearing witness to the faucet production experience on the ground, from sandstone moulds to cutting and polishing - the factory is 90% robotic, so streamlined and effectively efficient in its manufacturing processes. The Hemer factory came second to Siemens in the Best Factory Competition held in 2009 and the company is the only sanitary company in the world to produce its own copper and brass.
At the Red Dot Design Museum the team had a chance to see and touch some of the world's largest presentations of award-winning contemporary designs.
Flowers spoke to the group about design and how he and the Grohe design team strive to create unique ways in which the world can enjoy water in an environmentally sustainable manner. He highlighted the importance of setting trends and developing innovative technologies to bring bathrooms into the future.
