Fuel strike hurts taxi operators
The nationwide fuel strike is costing the taxi industry R2-million a day according to the South African National Taxi Council (Santaco). The report comes amid pleas from the fuel industry for motorists to stop panic buying of fuel, reassuring consumers that there is enough fuel to go around and that shortages are being compounded by excessive buying.

Meanwhile the union responsible for fuel workers has rejected an offer of a minimum wage increase of 8% to workers, claiming that the employers are "not listening to union demands".
