Bay manufacturers cheer vehicle sales
Vehicle manufacturers in Port Elizabeth are upbeat about last month's sales announced recently. At 52368, the total sales across South Africa was an increase of 1.1% compared with sales in February last year.

General Motors SA (GMSA) recorded 4772 new vehicle sales, for a 9.1% market share.
The company said GMSA grew volume at a faster pace than the industry when comparing last month to January. GMSA's volume increased by 9.3% against an industry which grew just 0.2%.
A total of 280 units of GMSA's new kid on the block, the new Opel Adam, were sold last month.
Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa (FMCSA), which has an engine plant in Port Elizabeth, captured 13.8% of the market, with a 28% increase in volume compared to the same month last year. Total domestic sales for Ford were 6 358 units.
FMCSA marketing, sales and services vice-president Mark Kaufman said Ford dealers' sales were 5705, a record for total monthly sales. EcoSport models sales were 1318.
Last month's total export sales at 29760 units was a gain of 35.6% compared with vehicles exported from South Africa in February last year.
Last month, Volkswagen Group SA exported 5727 vehicles, while Mercedes-Benz SA's figure was 6668 units.
