Grenache masterclass with one of SA's top winemakers, David Sadie
Respected wine journalist Tim James recently rated David & Nadia among the top 20 South African producers (based on a yearly questionnaire that he sends out to wine journalists, sommeliers and retailers in South Africa and overseas). Vinum, a Swiss-based magazine that offers wine reviews, news and editorials to readers across Europe, scored the David & Nadia Aristargos 18.5 points out of 20 - which positions it somewhere between Outstanding (18 points) and First Class (19 points). Articles in Vinum are written by 15 freelance writers that rate and score wines on a 20-point scale.
Many of South Africa's best Grenache plantings are in the Swartland, a region in which Sadie grew up and in which he now produces, so he is a winemaker who can speak with good authority about the vines and wines that are currently produced in this area.
As Corlien Morris of Wine Menu, the boutique wine shop located at the BluBird Shopping Centre in Athol Oaklands, says: "If you are going to organise a Grenache Masterclass there is no-one better and more informed in this country than David Sadie to run it."
The David Sadie Grenache Masterclass takes place at the La Vie en Rose restaurant at the Killarney Country Club on Wednesday, 5 April at 6pm.
Tickets for the event are R300 per person and include tastings of some of David Sadie's other wines as well as a selection of canapés beforehand. There is seating for 60 people only and with over half that number already sold on the day booking opened, there is a limited number still available. To book call Corlien Morris on 083 3790 030 or email az.oc.unemeniw@neilroc.
