Automotive companies use Lind SA's cutting systems

Ampie Ackerman, owner of Lind Plasma and Oxyfuel Cutting Systems South Africa (Lind SA), tells Engineering News that the plasma, laser and oxyfuel metal-cutting systems supplier recently completed two projects for the automotive industry, involving the supply of plasma-cutting True Hole Technology systems from plasma-cutting systems and consumables manufacturer Hypertherm, in the US, to vehicle and agricultural engineering company Henco Engineering, in Gobabis, Namibia, and also to Bloemfontein-based truck trailer, suspension and component manufacturer SA Truck Bodies.

"[Both installations] involve the supply of the Hypertherm Full Suite system for a computer-aided-design facility, material management system, guiding machine and complete plasma system from power source to nozzle," Ackerman says. He tells Engineering News that the design and nested parts program was downloaded onto the computerised plasma machine, which enables it to accurately cut the required automotive parts. Flexibility, accuracy, consistency, quality parts production, high productivity and cost effectiveness are key contributors to the success of plasma cutting, Ackerman says.
