Pasdec acquires 31% of CRH Africa

Engineering News reports that Pasdec Automotive Technologies, a member of Malaysian-owned Pasdec Holdings, has acquired a 30.87% share in CRH Africa Automotive. Pasdec is a manufacturer and supplier of electrical wiring harnesses to vehicle manufacturers in South Africa and CRH Africa operates principally in South Africa and is primarily engaged in the manufacturing of seat components and catalytic converters for the automotive industry.

Among Pasdec's major customers are Nissan South Africa, Renault South Africa and Mercedes-Benz South Africa. The deal - Pasdec said - forms part of its diversification and growth strategy in the local and international automotive component markets. CRH Africa has two local operating plants, one in Port Elizabeth and the other in Johannesburg, while Pasdec has three manufacturing plants, in Brits and East London.

"We consider it to be a great privilege to be formally associated with CRH Africa, which has a successful track record spanning more than 45 years," Pasdec CEO Kevin Pather told Engineering News, adding "[t]ogether with Pasdec's 42 years' experience in the automotive components industry, this represents a very strong partnership."
