Charges laid against Julius Malema

AfriForum laid charges of corruption against Malema after it was reported that he had a trust fund for deposits from business people.

AfriForum chief executive Kallie Kriel says the charges were laid in terms of the Prevention and Combating of Corrupt Activities Act of 2004.

He says that AfriForum chose to do so because if a person's lifestyle is disproportionate to the known income then it warrants investigation.

Malema is due to respond, at a media conference later today, to allegations that he has enjoyed a "lavish lifestyle".
