NHI payments will be based on medical aid fees

It quotes Dr Yogan Pillay, deputy director-general for health as saying that the NHI system relies on the fact that payments to the fund will not be higher than payments made to an existing medical aid.

Pillay told the Parliamentary standing committee on budgets that the revenue sources for the NHI needed to be as broadly-based as possible so that smaller contributions were needed from members.
