Budgets and business boosts

Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan announced the 2014 budget last week, and those with vices will, as usual, be paying more for their sins. The wine industry, however, didn't take as hard a knock as spirits in the liquor trade. Consumers and SMEs can also look forward to getting a little break.

Some new partnerships are in development, with the CCDI and CBI signing a MOU to boost our homeware design exports to the EU. Food Lover's Market is partnering with Waitrose and we will soon see the UK retail giant's goods on local shelves.

A hot topic in Cape Town this past weekend was Design Indaba and I hit the expo floor to check out some of the creations on offer.

In other interesting contributions, Rachel Thompson tells us why 50 is the new 30, and Jason Frichol asks "Are you a shopper marketeur?"

Have a fabulous week!
