Games CEOs playThis week saw Ralph Lauren step down as chief executive of the international holding company, with his successor Stefan Larson taking the mallet. Locally, Woolworths Holdings announced the appointment of John Dixon as CEO of David Jones, to replace Iain Nairn from Janurary 2016. Marius Muller, CEO of Pareto, explains the R1.1bn makeover of The Pavilion shopping centre in Durban as announced at the SA Council of Shopping Centres' (SACSC) 19th Annual Congress. Research undertaken by Clur Research International shows that creative, niche, differentiated store types are generally preferred to replicated options, and smaller, focused formats favoured over large, cumbersome ones. And making a 'loud' difference, the Shoprite Group's Decade of the Deaf Project, in partnership with eDeaf and the Wholesale and Retail SETA, has provided more than 400 deaf and hearing-impaired people throughout the country with the opportunity for gainful employment. The goal is to create jobs for 1,000 deaf learners altogether within the next few years. Jessica Taylor, Retail Editor (@Biz_Retail)
