Climbing the retail ladderThe who's who in worldwide brands were named last week when Interbrand released the results of its 2012 Best Global Brands survey. Coca-Cola, valued at a whopping US$77 billion, retained its global dominance, while Apple's string of must-have gadgets helped bounce the brand into its new #2 spot. On home soil, Demographica give retailers seven reasons why they should be using digital direct marketing; and Woolworths launches the second edition of its Design Resource Guide. With the retail industry making up 15% of SA's GDP, it's not hard to see why Retail Relate's Leigh Blochlinger is encouraging the youth to follow a career path in retail. Speaking of retail careers, Pick n Pay has finally found the right man to take the helm - former Tesco board member Richard Brasher will assume the role of CEO from February next year.
