The project lead is responsible for planning and overseeing projects within Open Cities Lab, from the initial ideation through to completion. They coordinate people and processes to deliver projects on time, within budget and with the desired outcomes aligned to objectives.

The day-to-day
  • Oversee the planning, design and implementation of assigned projects
  • Ensure that the project team meets agreed milestones and deadlines
  • Ensure there is ongoing constructive communication between all partners and stakeholders.
  • Oversee the analysis and management of project risk 
  • Monitor project progress and coordinate team activity and resource 
  • planning (budget revisions)
  • Manage the development of necessary reports and project documentation
  • Act as the key points person for the projects (internal and external enquiries)
  • Complete Flash (status) reports and other project documentation on a weekly basis
  • Support and drive Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning within the project
  • Onboarding of all new team members
  • Oversee project resources and assist with the management of third party partner requirements and scheduling

  • Good time management skills and the ability to juggle multiple tasks at once
  • A good communicator with effective stakeholder management & conflict resolution skills
  • Mathematical and budgeting skills
  • Be a good team player and an effective leader who is able to motivate their project team
  • Have strong resourcing skills
  • You will possess great organisational competencies and be able to manage the project process from start to finish
  • Analytical skills to identify and mitigate risks which may impact successful delivery of projects
  • Comfortable with working in a distributed organisation
  • Able to give insightful input into inefficient administrative processes
  • Able to give client and partner insight and feedback to the team
  • Able to give intelligent recommendation/advice to clients and partners
  • Have a good command of English both spoken and written
  • Skilled at working under pressure

Qualifications
  • Experience may be preferable to qualifications for this role. You should show an aptitude for technology and organisational management with either a business / creative-led degree, or equivalent qualifications.

Relevant experience
  • Time spent planning, leading, directing, and managing projects
  • Experience having designed and implemented strategic plans for projects
  • Adept at briefing teams across many departments (domains) and reporting to clients/partners
  • Budget and resource planning experience
  • Research experience a plus
  • Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning experience a plus
  • Knowledge of and experience working with Slack, Trello, Google Suite, Toggl etc. a plus
