Telkom, in collaboration with South Africa Wine and industry experts, has introduced the Smart Agritech initiative to transform agriculture, with a key focus on the wine sector. The project aims to enhance sustainability, efficiency, and resilience through advanced technology.
Unveiled in February 2025 at Lanzerac Wine Estate in Stellenbosch, the initiative combines Telkom’s 5G connectivity, Aizatron’s AI and IoT expertise, Stellenbosch University’s agricultural research, and South Africa Wine’s industry leadership. This collaboration will drive data-driven viticulture and smart farming solutions.
The initiative focuses on real-time vineyard monitoring, improved efficiency, and sustainable farming. By leveraging data insights, it will optimise crop production and resource management, setting a new benchmark for agricultural innovation in South Africa.
