    Angola, Spain explore reciprocal investment

Representatives of more than 100 companies from various sectors in Madrid were recently briefed by Angolan officials on trade and investment opportunities.

Angolan Embassy in Spain on Thursday said the parties met in the context of the Angola-Spain Business Forum held in the Spanish capital, Madrid.

During the forum, the director of International Relations of Angola's National Private Investment Agency (ANIP), Antonio Prata, spoke about the incentives offered to foreign investors.

These incentives take the form of guarantees provided under the new legal framework on foreign investment.

The director of the Industrial Development Institute of Angola (IDIA), Kiala Gabriel, spoke about the perspectives of the industrial sector, in the light of the government's policy to industrialise the country.

The director also emphasised that with the country's integration into the Southern African Development Community (SADC), companies operating in Angola would not only be able to count on Angolans as potential clients, but also those in other SADC member countries, which have a combined 200 million consumers.

Under its economic co-operation policy with Sub-Saharan African countries, Spain considers Angola as one of its priorities.

This is the second Angola-Spain Business Forum being promoted by the Trade Mission of the Angolan Embassy in Spain, the first being held in Barcelona last month.
