MTL partners with bank in credit loading

The country's lone fixed-phone line company, Malawi Telecommunications Limited (MTL) has entered into partnership with National Bank of Malawi (NBM) where the bank's accounts holders will be able to top-up their airtime credit using standing orders.

Launching what they are calling MTL Automatic Loading (ACL), the two institutions touted the service as the only one where organisations and individuals plan how much they want to spend on telecommunications and fill in a standing order at any NBM service centre across Malawi where on a fixed date the units will be credited to their phones.

“NBM will then be transferring the money from a client's account to the MTL account,” said NBM head of customer services and transactional banking, Austin Musyani.

He said by introducing this service, they want to relieve their clients the burden of moving from place to place in search of recharge vouchers since all the work will now be done by the two companies.

Concurring with the bank official, MTL head of sales, Zaina Bwanali said the company decided to partner with NBM considering that the bank has a wide base of outlets across the country.

“MTL is devising new and suitable innovative services to reach out to more members of the public,” said Bwanali.
