Senegal telecoms seals major deal with Ascade
The Carrier Cockpit suite aims to provide Sonatel with complete operational and management support for near real-time optimisation of its core interconnect processes - buying, routing, pricing and selling for the wholesale and traditional, bilateral and international voice business. The programme is said to be the most advanced, mature and widely used Interconnect Solution for managing the wholesale business worldwide.
One important aspect of the project will be the automation of the switch provisioning. This will automatically update the switches with the latest routing information. "We have high expectations in the ability of the Carrier Cockpit Suite to optimise our international traffic management," said Sonatel Director of Operations and International Relations, Aissatou Dieng-Diop, in a statement.
"The project has already started and we anticipate to have the ... suite fully integrated with our IT and Siemens EWSD Switching infrastructure in a very short timeframe. It is our view that the [programme] will help us stay ahead of the competition while at the same time improving our revenue and margins significantly."
Henrik Anderberg, Ascade CEO could not hide his joy. "We are immensely proud that Sonatel has chosen the ... suite after a very detailed and thorough evaluation process. This is our second major win in Africa and again cements our global market-leading position in the area of Routing and Billing solutions. We intend to leverage our experience gained from these projects to further increase our footprint in the ever more important African market," Anderberg said.
Ascade, a global market-leader in advanced routing, billing and quality solutions for the interconnect market, is a privately held company owned by founders and leading Nordic investment firm CapMan. Through its presence in Sweden, US, Dubai, and Singapore, Ascade provides support to its customers worldwide. It is listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange.
