Startup Picnic offers entrepreneurs fun networking opportunities
"We developed the concept to provide an informal and fun platform for entrepreneurs and aspirant entrepreneurs to connect, unwind, play, absorb information and tie relationships," says founder, Tiisetso Maloma.
"We realised two things. One, tie and suit networking events are intimidating for most and the business cards exchanged do not necessarily stretch to solid connections. Two, entrepreneurship is hard, lonely and often anxious. Therefore we created the Startup Picnic as a nest for easy and casual networking over a braai, beer and fun games."
The picnic starts off with an outdoor breakfast talk then followed by braaing, music, exhibitions, fun games (volleyball, table tennis, 5 aside soccer, sack race and more) and networking.
Using a franchise model, the same picnics are going to be hosted in various cities bi-monthly. Plans are underway for Polokwane, Rustenburg, Port Elizabeth and Botswana.
