PRETORIA: The City of Cape Town has concluded a process to prepare documentation for the appointment of a new contractor to complete outstanding work on the MyCiti Bus Rapid Transit System.

"The City of Cape Town has concluded a vigorous process to prepare a Request for Quotations (RFQ) document to appoint a new contractor for the completion of the outstanding works to supply, install, test, commission and maintain the MyCiTi Control Centre hardware, software and related systems," it said on Sunday, 30 March 2014.

The MyCiti Bus Rapid Transit system - which has been in operation since 2011 - is currently transporting more than 10,000 people daily.

The RFQ is the first step in the process of appointing a new contractor to complete the outstanding work to supply, install, test, commission and maintain the MyCiTi control centre hardware, software and related systems.

The document will be advertised on the City's website on www.capetown.gov.za between 31 March and 6 April 2014. Prospective bidders will have three weeks to bid for the contract.

The RFQ document defines the scope of the outstanding work and the technical requirements.

The City's objective is for the contract to be awarded by the middle of May 2014 and it is anticipated that the successful bidder will commence work soon thereafter.

The MyCiTi bus operations are not directly affected as the scheduling and monitoring of the buses are still continuing."
