Inaugural TransAfrica Expo launched successfully
On Tuesday, 1 October 2013, Africa's inaugural TransAfrica Expo kicked-off at the Nasrec Expo centre in Johannesburg. The launch of the TransAfrica Expo coincides with South Africa's Transport Month and the Minister of Transport, Honourable Minister Dipuo Peters delivered an impactful keynote address, officially opening the Expo.
The Minister of Transport lauded the organisers, Umthombo Events, in their joint venture with Specialised Exhibitions Pty Ltd for ensuring that senior officials from SOCs as well as the private sector congregated to at the TransAfrica Expo to discuss opportunities for future growth within the industry. Minister of Transport also stated that this was the Department of Transport's first Transport Month activity.
"The Department of Transport will soon invite members of the public to contribute to the Transport Masterplan, which will be truly South African," said the Minister and added "the new Transport Masterplan will be a panacea for many of our transport challenges."
TransAfrica Expo follows a three day conference and four day exhibition format (1-4 October) which includes showcasing brands from all four transport disciplines-road and rail vehicles, air transport and cargo systems, as well as maritime and pipeline transport systems.
