SA 2015 maize output unchanged at 9.75-million tons

SA's maize output is expected to be 9.75-million tons in 2015, unchanged from last month's estimate, the crop estimates committee said in its sixth production estimate report for this year.

Forecasts for white and yellow maize output were left unchanged respectively, as were the area planted to these two crops.

Meanwhile, the committee said the area planted to wheat for 2015 was likely to be 478,300 hectares, up 0.4% from 2014. The expected plantings to wheat are the second-smallest on record.
