SA Tourism appoints new country manager for Aus

South African Tourism has appointed Nobulali 'Lalie' Ngozi as country manager for Australia as of 6 December 2010. Ngozi has experience in communications and marketing and has previously worked in both the government and corporate sector.

Ngozi studied journalism, with emphasis on communication and international marketing. In 2002 she was one of five South African Fellows selected by the Department of Science and Technology to participate in the Science Radio Journalism Fellowship at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) in Washington DC.

    Involved in media

Early on in her career she decided to get involved in media, as a producer and presenter for Link FM and Imonti FM, both radio stations in the Eastern Cape. In television she worked as a news anchor and deputy editor at Afrisat Television and later as a producer and presenter at SABC Africa.

She served as the international relations officer focusing on Africa, at Government Communications and Information Systems Department (GCIS) and later as the sustainable development communications manager for Anglo American.

Prior to joining SA Tourism, Ngozi was the chief marketing officer for the North West Parks and Tourism Board.

Enhancing SA's marketing strategy in Aus

"The staff, board and stakeholders are delighted to welcome Ms Ngozi to SA Tourism," said Thandiwe January-McLean, CEO of SA Tourism. "We are confident her expertise in media, as well as the knowledge and insight she gained during her career path, will prove indispensable to her as she takes up the task of enhancing South Africa's communication and marketing strategy in Australia."

As the country manager for Australia at SA Tourism, Ngozi's responsibilities will include the positive representation of South Africa in Australia, developing a country strategy and annual business plan.
