| No Comment | Well, the awards are over, but the debate has only begun. The first three-day Loerie Festival happened, it was enjoyed by those on the night and especially those who won awards for the excellent work on show. But it was not without problems - attendance was low at the conferences and below par at most of the events, and serious questions will be asked as to whether the exclusive and expensive Sun City, as a venue, is still the best place for Loeries. Or whether lumping all the industry awards and conferences into three days was effective and showcased the industry in the best possible light. Although MFSA Chair, Jabu Mabuza, adopted a more conciliatory tone towards the ad industry this time round, and thanked them for transformation efforts in the past year, marketers still have a lot of work to do, and the fact remains that he was one of the few black faces up on stage.

Ten ways to tell a good strategy from a bad one - lessons from the world of cartography [Sid Peimer] A Hungarian army patrol, after losing their way in a storm, faced certain death in the harsh wintry conditions of the Alps. However, after perusing the map, their commanding officer stated: "This isn't a map of the Alps. It's a map of the Pyrenees."
