    Egypt to bolster tourism

    Hotels in the country will be exempt from paying contributions to the tourism promotion authority and fees paid by charter flights will be cut to help Egypt's tourism industry deal with the global financial meltdown.

    Hotel bookings in Egypt have dropped by 30% in January 2009 compared to the same period last year. The industry is the country's top hard currency earner and has begun to feel the pinch of the financial crisis.
