Armed men ransack newspaper's offices
On 5 May 2007, it was reported that armed men broke into the offices of the pro-government daily newspaper Le Matin d’Abidjan, and made off with cash, various documents and equipment.
An MFWA correspondent reported that the men stole 3.5 million FCFA (approx. US$7,270), a television set, four cameras, and several dictaphones.
The offices' security guard, Tra Bi Roland, was locked in a washroom during the robbery but told MFWA that the assailants were in military uniform and armed with AK47 rifles and pistols.
Abidjan police have begun an investigation into the robbery.
