Chopper crash claims pioneering female journalist

The Togo helicopter crash on Sunday claimed the life of journalist Olive Messan Amouzou, the first woman to head a radio station in Togo.

Lomé - Amouzou, former director general of private Radio Sport FM in the capital Lomé and a member of the media commission of the Togolese soccer association, was among 20 others killed in Sierra Leone while traveling with an official delegation of the association.

The Committee to Protect Journalists, CPJ, has reacted to the loss:

'We mourn the tragic loss of Olive Messan Amouzou, a pioneer among female journalists in Togo,' said CPJ Executive Director Joel Simon 'We extend our deepest condolences to her family and colleagues.'
