Nedjma strengthens its multimedia leadership in Algeria

Nedjma "star", Algeria's third private mobile operator has reinforced its innovative and multimedia leadership in Algeria. From 15 January 2008, subscribers of Nedjma will enjoy extra services with Zhoo portal.

"Zhoo, the Arabic meaning for entertainment, offers a wide range of music, sports, films and other programs and content," explains Mr Djazairi, Nedjma's public relations manager.

Meanwhile, the director-general of Nedjma, Dr. Joseph Ged said 2008 will be Nedjma's year of business success as Nedjma prepares itself to invest more in multimedia services in North Africa. He said multimedia services are at the heart of Nedjma's passion and the new version of the Zhoo portal will mainly be dedicated to youngsters who love music and sports programs.

In fact, the portal offers four blocks of programs; two of them are reserved exclusively to Algerian and European football alike, and the others to local music and films. Thus, 40% of Nedjma's 4 million subscribers with multimedia mobiles phones, will be able to download video sequences of champion league goals, idols, strikers, favourite teams etc. These facilities are made possible following an agreement with the Algerian public TV for the entertainment programs aspects and for films sequences with Warner Bros' local representative in Algiers.

For 100 Algerian Dinars (US$1,25), customers can get a variety of songs from Nedjma music store, and for 20 DZD (US$0,30), they can have access to over 3000 Web and WAP multilingual and varied content.

In December 2007, telecom operators from the African continent held an exhibition in Cote D`voire and awarded Nedjma a trophy for best operator and according to Ged, the award was proof of Nedjma's high quality of services. He said, "It is a very exciting and rewarding result and the award reflects that our efforts are not in vain and Nedjma really deserves it."

Other delegates attending the conference said the award reflected positively on Nedjma in its efforts to become the leading company to offer innovative, multimedia services to its clientele.
