Unique user numbers were down from 6.5 million in May 2009 to only 3.3 million in May of this year. The decline of the social networking giant has been rapid despite the launch of MySpace Music last December.
In contrast, Facebook has now surpassed the 500 million membership barrier reported a few days ago, with one in every twelve people in the world now using the site.
According to ComScore, Facebook was used by 30.4 million people in the UK (79% of the population). Usage of the site grew 28% in the last year, compared to an overall increase in the number of people using social networking sites of 13%. ComScore also found that 90% of the 38.2 million internet users in the UK aged 15 and over used a social media in May 2010.
