Wallpaper*'s insight on February Design Awards Edition
LONDON, UK / CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA: For the 8th Year running the Wallpaper* editorial team has searched the four corners of the earth to find the best of the design world, showcasing the contenders and the winners cover to cover in the February issue.
Boasting what the team reckons to be the best judges' line-ups to-date, the judging panel includes:
- Grayson Perry, ceramicist;
- Rafael Vinoly, New York-based architect;
- Simon de Pury, a Swiss art auctioneer and collector, chairman and co-founder of the art auction house Phillips de Pury & Company;
- Gerd Bulthaup, son of the company's founder of the German kitchen manufacturer;
- Jean-Paul Goude, a French graphic designer, illustrator, photographer and advertising film director, creating campaigns for the likes of Chanel.
A 6th surprise judge is yet to be revealed.
The awards will include categories such as Best Domestic Design; nominees include:
- Dada;
- Valcucine;
- Flos;
- Siedle.
Designer of the Year. Best New Restaurant, nominees include:
- Sur Mesure, Paris;
- Nopi, London;
- Ozone, Hong Kong;
- Cecconi's, Miami.
In the Best New Men's fashion collections, nominees include
Best New women's collection, nominees include:
- Jil Sander;
- Louis Vuitton;
- Givenchy;
- Bottega Veneta.
Best new grooming product and Life-enhancer of the year. The winners will be announced in the February issue.
Wallpaper* is dedicating a full five spreads to the best of the seasons 2012 Spring/Summer opening collections including both men and women, likely clients to be included are Prada, Celine YSL, Fendi, Vuitton.
