GCE scores five-year contract with Goldfields Logistics
“We relocated to bigger facilities in Alrode in February this year, which meant more responsibilities, compliance and care when it comes to ensuring a clean facility in line with health and safety requirements,” said Goldfields Logistics’ warehouse manager, Ian Ehlers.
“We are not specialists in the cleaning equipment business, as our core function is warehousing. Imagine cleaning, and ensuring a spotless 30,000 sqm warehouse and yard. This is a mammoth task, which can only be handled by professionals in that area of specialisation. We needed a reliable partner of choice to provide a suitable multi-terrain sweeper. Having worked with Goscor on our forklift rental contract for many years, and receiving quality service, it was a no-brainer to entrust this task to them,” added Ehlers.
Industrial sweepers
GCE conducted a same-day-on-site demonstration using its Tennant T20 heavy-duty industrial sweeper. “The results were impressive, and we signed a new rental contract,” said Ehlers. “This route made sound business sense, as it is the most cost-effective option for us, considering that we are not cleaning specialists. We do not have the burden of absorbing depreciation of capital goods, and the rental machine is replaced with a brand new one after five years. We also do not have to worry about repairs or maintenance costs.”
The Tennant S20 SweepMax ride-on, an all-terrain sweeper, is able to move seamlessly between different terrains from the cement floors in the warehouse to the asphalt yard area. The side brush provides increased reach along edges and this wider cleaning path maximises productivity. An important feature of the Tennant S20 is its fuel efficiency and low operational costs - the 11-litre diesel tank delivers five to six hours of daily operation over a five day period.
According to Goldfields Logistics’ machine operator, Stembiso Ndlela, the machine is user-friendly and the controls are easy to use. “We received free on-site practical training from a qualified GCE operator to ensure that we use the machine correctly and to its optimal capacity,” he added.
The cab’s design combines safety and comfort and allows for improved visibility with the full front shroud protecting the operator’s legs and feet.
