According to Heidi Edson, corporate social investment manager for GrandWest, the company specifically sought a female-run business to resurface a road on the GrandWest property as part of its enterprise development programme.

It was while visiting the City of Cape Town's stand at the Smart Procurement World Western Cape 2014 Conference and ABSA Enterprise Development Exhibition in March 2014 that the team first encountered Albertyn.

Quality work

Decordent Living successfully completed an interlinking service road on the property, stripping the old gravel, fixing the quality of the road and resurfacing it with a new asphalt layer. Such was the quality of the finished project that GrandWest began commissioning Decordent Living for other projects.

"Entrepreneurs such as Warda Albertyn are the life blood of our economy," said the City of Cape Town's Mayoral Committee member for Economic, Environmental and Spatial Planning, Councillor Johan van der Merwe. "They are the largest drivers of much-needed job creation. As an inclusive and opportunity city, it is important that we create an enabling environment to unlock opportunities for small and medium enterprises. We thank GrandWest for their commitment to enterprise development and for helping to make progress possible, together."
