[Going On Holiday] Part 2: Check your fuel system
Fuel pump
Your fuel pump is the heart of the fuelling system and ensures that the correct volume and pressure of fuel is delivered to the engine, via the fuelling system.
A faulty fuel pump will result in an engine that operates at inefficient levels or not running at all. It could cause higher than required fuel usage; resulting in higher running costs. Faulty fuel pumps need to be replaced immediately. ECHLIN offers the complete fuel unit i.e. fuel pump, fuel level sensors, casing and hosing. This allows for easy installation and less time wasted.
Many older vehicles still utilise a mechanical fuel pump, fitted to the engine block or cylinder head, which supplies fuel to the carburettor system.
Check for fuel leaks on the fuel system and engine bay. This will indicate a failure in the system and also be potentially very dangerous and harmful because it could ignite and cause a fire. Also look for any smell of fuel, which could be the result of a fuel leakage and exposed fumes.
