Speed Stars returns to TV screens in February

After an exciting start to the first season of Speed Stars in October 2015, they are back with more SA celebrities behind the wheel and on television screens from 13 February 2016.

Conceptualised, produced and owned by Marius Roberts and his production company, M.R. Productions, Speed Stars sees 24 SA stars from the world of sport, music, television and entertainment being unleashed on the race track for their one shot at being a race ace... one shot at posting their fastest lap time around Zwartkops Raceway.

Speed Stars is sponsored by Michelin with support from Opel, Force Fuel, The Fairway Hotel, Greensky, Fortis and ION and is broadcast on SA's dedicated motoring channel, IGNITION (DSTV 189). The show is also available on DSTV's Catch Up platform for Compact subscribers.

Road safety plays an important role in the Speed Stars experience for both viewers and guests. The stars are given practical lessons on tyre, road and driver safety before receiving champion instruction from race aces Tschops Sipuka and Mike Briggs on how to set a hot lap time around the track.

Each episode has guests paired up according to their careers, so even though the 24 stars are all vying for the top spot on the Speed Stars leader board, the first person they want to beat is their fellow studio guest. At the end of the season, the three fastest celebrities will be invited back to the track for a 'winner takes all' shootout.

What's up for grabs?

Besides the bragging rights as the fastest celebrity in SA, Michelin will present the winner with R30,000 to donate to a charity of their choice. Michelin will also be taking the winner as a VIP guest to the circuit endurance race, the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Fortis will also be ensuring our winner looks good being on time, with a timepiece valued at R28,000.

Viewers can get in on the action too with the weekly 'Predict the Winner' competition for the chance to win a Cellini luggage set from Michelin. For the season finale, viewers stand a chance to win a grand prize by correctly predicting which of the three finalists will come out on top.

The winner will be revealed in the final show, which airs from 26 March until 1 April.
