Jaguar F-Type R AWD named car of 2016

Motoring tabloid AutoWeek has announced the Jaguar F Type R as its Drivers Car of the Year for 2016 in a move that the title believes underlines the need for all-wheel drive in all more powerful cars.

"The Jaguar F-Type R AWD is far, far more than just AutoWeek's Drivers Car of the Year," AutoWeek publisher and editor Michele Lupini pointed out.

"It is absolute proof that there is no longer a real place for overpowered rear-driven cars on street - in fact it is so much better than its identical rear driven sibling that it pretty well makes that car seem a joke.

"So yes, the Jaguar F-Type R AWD not only addresses a fundamental issue to so clearly show the all-wheel driven supercar way forward, but it is also the best car of a quite considerable Drivers Car of the Year field..."
