Igwe was knocked down by a vehicle while jogging near his residence in Okota area of Lagos. He was immediately taken to the hospital where he underwent surgery and sadly passed away afterwards.
Dr Orji Uzor Kalu, Chairman of the Sun Publishing Limited described the incident as the darkest day in the history of the organisation.
