Transport conference to explore developments in smart ticketing
Some of Africa's biggest names in transport will come together, beginning with a keynote address from the Ministry of Transport of South Africa. A panel discussion, chaired by Jean Constantini, senior business advisor of Thales Transportation Systems, will follow.
Dr Vaughan Mostert from the University of Johannesburg, Chantal Greenwood from Transport for Cape Town and Dr Ismail Vadi from Gauteng Province will each outline their experience alongside emerging trends and issues. The opening keynote address will be delivered by a representative from the Ministry of Transport of South Africa.
Panel discussion
Dr Mostert and Greenwood will take part in the panel discussion, 'Can government transport operators afford to miss the smart ticketing movement?' This will focus on the environmentally and economically sustainable vision for the African continent, which is to have an integrated transport sector. The infrastructure will enable the free movement of passengers through the provision of cost-effective, seamless transport options at affordable rates.
Greenwood will then take to the stage for her own presentation, 'Introducing one ticket for all public transport: looking at the blueprint for sustainable ticketing'. The keynote address, delivered by Dr Vadi, will cover all of the latest transport ticketing initiatives from Gauteng while Dr Mostert will consider 'Moving from theory to practice: what is a realistic and flexible view of what needs to change to enable successful smart fare collection in Africa'.
The event also offers a perfect opportunity to network and there will also be an extensive exhibition with international companies offering the latest solutions.
