| No Comment | Marketers are getting together in Cape Town and Johannesburg next week to discuss representation to the DTI over the proposed new Consumer Protection Bill. While containing very admirable provisions to guarantee consumer rights and repeal unfair old laws, the Bill will require business to adjust current practices and operational requirements. The Bill has major ramifications for manufacturers, distributors and retailers, along with all forms of service providers in South Africa. All traders, retailers and suppliers, no matter how big or small their concern, will be affected in some way or another by the content of this Bill. Marketers are being warned that certain provisions will affect how they communicate with their customers and are being urged to assist the industry - represented by the fledgling marketing association that is in the process of being established and the Corporate Lawyers Association - in making representation to Government on key provisions. Contact SBS Conferences for more detail and to register on email: registrar@sbs.co.za. Bizcommunity.com will be carrying the full story and background to the Bill tomorrow, Wednesday.
Enjoy! Louise Marsland, editor: editor@bizcommunity.com
