The company will export coffee directly to global supermarket chains in the United Kingdom and South Africa. The one-million US dollar enterprise is capable of producing three million kilogrammes of coffee yearly and is expected to boost the country's revenue.
Green coffee beans are sold for about one US dollar per kilogramme but when roasted and processed the coffee can fetch as much as 15 US dollars a kilogram. The project started in 2003 as a social enterprise aimed at linking coffee growers directly to the market.
