Ugandans losing millions to phone companies
Many Ugandans are losing money to unending promotions by their preferred telecom companies. This comes in the form of users asked to subscribe by sending messages to win cash, airtime, and cars. Apparently these messages go for between Ksh50 to Ksh1500 depending on the network provider.
Isaac Kalembe, the PR officer at Uganda Communications Commission told Saturday Vision that they had received several complaints from the public on unauthorised deductions from their accounts.
"But whenever we get the complaints, we put them to the attention of the service providers and we ensure that they are addressed. We have a special desk handling the complaints." Kalembe added.
